Driven by Design
I have always found car design to be one of the most beautiful art forms. During the creation of Collection ID, I was naturally drawn to cars for ideas and inspiration. The parallels between car and eyewear design are really interesting and fun to me. At the time, I was very into vintage American cars, like Cadillacs, Lincolns, and Chryslers.
The absurd sizes, wild shapes, and extreme details, combined with eye-catching colorways, made me think, “I want to make shades for the person driving these cars.” It was a dream to look through and read about all the different beautiful cars during the process.

1st Edition Model 76 Rendered by Isac Lindberg
I found this interesting story about the Lincoln Continental that kinda became then the cocept of the frame. After Lincoln had such great success with its previous models and a pretty prestigious clientele, the brand began creating designer edition Mark V's. In the 70s and 80s, they made custom editions with designers such as Emilio Pucci, Cartier, Givenchy, and Bill Blass. That is such a cool story and approach from Lincoln to attract a special customer and create a desire within them. The same standard of craftsmanship, design and attention to detail should go into VC designs. So when you buy a Model 76 it will have the same feeling of owning something unique and special.
It was also during this time that the VC logo was designed in collaboration with graphic designer Sebastian Björkman. The logo was inspired by the rims of car wheels, as you can see from the first edition rendering above.
Here are some of the Designer Edition Mark V's

The temples of the frame were inspired by the profile and rear wings of the cars.
The frame shape came from the front view.
